Many years ago I decided it was most likely that there is a continuation of existence after death. That decision, based on inward inquiry and a rudimentary truth sense, predicated how I lived my life for it seemed to be a smart investment to strive for spiritual substance over material ephemera. Besides the circumstances of my life had kicked me out of 'reality'.

Some 45 years after that decision I recieved an inner sense of absolute certainty that I had done well enough (not great by any means) to be assured of the continuance of my personality after death. Suddenly death wasn't an end of anything but a vital transition to enable my continuation in a new body with added semi-material senses and mental capacity more capable at comprehending spiritual realities.

That sense of certainty sparked an increased interest about making that transition. I recently ran into one of the quotes from The Urantia Book that had opened my mind to a different possibility long ago.

""Natural, physical death is not a mortal inevitability. The majority of advanced evolutionary beings, citizens on worlds existing in the final era of light and life, do not die; they are translated directly from the life in the flesh to the morontia existence."

    55:2.1 (623.1)

Now I don't personally expect to experience translation. It seems to me that I have way too far to go, spiritually speaking. However I feel that there is a mid-point between death and translation. That I've been given. The faith certainty of transition to continue my existence and the possibility of eternal existence. It is the product of trying the best one can to find God here on earth.

Anyway I'm going to add articles on enlightened viewpoints of death and dying to this topic.

This is a very down to earth look at alternatives to the big business model of death in favor of a personal and intimate participation. I think it is an important perspective.

    An excerpt:

“How will you look back when you reach the end of your days? How will you consider the life you have lived? You can be sure that you will not remember the trips you made, the riches you obtained, or the fame you enjoyed. Many of those who have achieved these mostly material things look back and remember them for just a few moments, to finally discover that they really didn’t grow during their lives. As they were during the first years of their adult life, they continued to be until the end of their life."

    Here's the whole thing...

This is a marvelously sensitive short piece of writing about the suffering of those who are present during the death of a loved one. It is more joyous rather than painful.

This is an 11:11 Progress Group Message. It is a parable of life and death. The feeling of it is exactly what I harbor when I think of The Launch Pad* project. (A note for those not familiar with The Urantia Book cosmology - the special device you recieve is your Thought Adjustor, a spark from God that lives in your heart and is your guide... making Mission Control the name used for God in this parable)

Carolyn describes a series of events she and those close to her experienced recently. They led her to speculate on the subject of life after death.

Here is another completely different take on death. The disposal issue. Grave? Ashes? How about bod pod to fertilize a tree?
